Here’s some photos from our wonderful Wassailing Gathering last Saturday, January 11th.  A massive thanks again to everyone who came along. It was so lovely to see so many people and to toast our orchard trees together.
It’s been a very sunny, frosty, cold winter day; the ice glistened in the sun, it all looked really beautiful and we really appreciate that so many of you came along on this cold day to celebrate winter with us and to cheer for the coming spring.
Huge thanks again to the wonderful Angela Warren for leading the wassail songs with such welcoming enthusiasm and to the fantastic Greenwood Step Clog Dancers for such great toe-tapping clog dancing. It really has felt a very special event.
There’s several Wassailing events happening across the country at the moment, it’s an old Twelfth Night tradition to serenade orchards in the depths of winter and hope for a good crop in the coming year. We had a fantastic apple harvest last year, so we’ll hope this years Wassail activities will bear fruit this year!
We also left lots of seed out for all the wild birds, in this cold weather they need every little bit of help available.
